At World's End

Yes, i've been a lazy blogger. I could blame my absence on how busy work has been, but then i wouldn't be telling the truth. I have done a couple of fun things lately though, one of them being the World Premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End at Disneyland back on May 19th.

If you haven't seen any of Disney's Pirate Trilogy, then i must admit you should just see the first one, Curse of the Black Pearl, and be done with them. But if you're a big fan of Johnny Depp (who isn't?), Orlando Bloom, or my Keira Knightley, then you'll have to see them all. Oh, a word of caution for those non-Johnny Depp fans, after seeing him in one movie as Captain Jack Sparrow, you'll want to see him play that character again---he's hilarious.

So what was i doing on the 19th? Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you like more), Keira did not attend due to a filming obligation. I would have been very happy to see her one last time and to be the only host to have the same star for all three premieres. Plus i think her role in this movie is a lot more fun to watch. she's not longer the damsel in distress, but an active heroine---she kicks a lot of butt! Since she lives in England and isn't the type to travel around the world to visit Disneyland (even if she does happen to be in LA for work), i probably won't see her ever again. Yes, i will cry you a river.

So now you ask, "if you didn't have your Keira, then who did you have?" I gave you a small hint in the first picture of this post. Ladies and Gentlemen, may i introduce to you, Captain Sao Feng (Cantonese for "Howling Wind"):Yes, that's Chow Yun-Fat and his wife, Jasmine, on the red carpet at Disneyland. Hopefully this year i did a better job of avoiding cameras. Speaking about avoiding cameras, when i was in his hotel room waiting for everyone to get ready for the red carpet, he saw me using my personal phone and noticed it was a camera phone. He walked over to me, put his arm over my shoulder (he's 6'1", compared to my 5'5"), and said, in Mandarin, "let's take a picture!" I'm happy to say he really is as kind and easy-going as everyone says he is. His English is great---not labored at all. And contrary to popular belief, his Mandarin is excellent, much better than mine (which isn't saying much, but when i studied abroad in China i was told my accent was geographically indistinguishable). Meeting him was a surreal experience. I remember hanging out with all of my high school buddies (you know who you are) and watching him in all those Hong Kong action movies like A Better Tomorrow and The Killer.

I've already met Jacky Cheung (he's the official spokesperson of Hong Kong Disneyland) and Jet Li, but Chow Yun-Fat was at the top of my list of Chinese/Cantonese/Taiwanese celebrities i would like to meet. Now that i've met him, i think Michelle Yeoh is now at the top of the list.

Hey, forward me the pix of you and Yun-Fat! Did you get him to cast you in the next Hollywood action picture?

Sweeeeet man! Now these are some people to write home about meeting! :) So, did you take the picture with him? I'm really happy to hear that Mr. Chow's such a nice guy.
