Outdoor Adventures in the Mayan Riviera, Part II

By popular demand, here are some videos of our vacation. Again, the quality isn't so great---all of our vacation videos are taken with digital cameras. Maybe before our next vacation i'll invest in something better.

This first video is me swimming around in the Caribbean, off the beach on Isla Mujeres. The pylons you see used to be part of a dock that was washed away during hurricanes in 2005. Mom and Mary don't like riding on boats so any free-diving i did was off beaches. And as you can tell, there isn't much to see off of the beach---no wonder i didn't see anyone swimming around. All those world-famous reefs and diving spots in Cancun and Cozumel will have to wait for another day.

This next video is of those caves we went snorkeling in. The company we went to is called Hidden Worlds. A very small percentage of the caves are illuminated by lights---the guide turned on an above-ground generator before we went in. You can see me trying to show the camera how deep and endless parts of the caves are with the small hand-held diving flashlight the guide gives to each group. And when i say endless, i really mean endless. The cave just continues on into nothingness; and sometimes you have to swim over the nothingness---very creepy to think of what might be down there. This video really doesn't do the experience justice.

And here's Mom and Mary getting clipped-in to the zip-line by one of the many guides on our Selvatica zip-line tour. Most of the time we were about 20-40 feet in the trees. As you can see when Mary gets ready, the process is extremely simple and fast---loads of fun!
